In our journey through life, we often seek validation and love from others. We may feel like we need to achieve certain milestones or possess certain qualities to be loved. But the truth is, God's love for us is not based on our achievements or personal attributes. In this blog, we will explore the concept of God's great love and how He chose us to be loved, even when we were utterly helpless and still sinners.
I. God's Great Love for Us
Romans 5:6-8 "When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners."
God's love for us is not dependent on our accomplishments or the state of our lives. He loved us even when we were utterly helpless, and He sent Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. This is the essence of God's great love.
II. Chosen by God
Deuteronomy 14:2 "You have been set apart as holy to the LORD your God, and he has chosen you from all the nations of the earth to be his own special treasure."
We must remember that we did not choose God; God chose us. He set us apart as something special, not because of anything we have done or could bring to the table, but simply because, in His eyes, we are a treasure.
III. A Personal Reflection on God's Love
When we experience the generosity and love of others, it can leave a lasting impression on us. The story of a childhood friendship demonstrates this concept. Despite being terrible at sports, the author's friend Jorge chose him for his team simply out of friendship. This act of generosity and love has never been forgotten.
Similarly, God loves us when no one else does. He chooses us, not for anything we could ever contribute, but simply because, in His eyes, we are a treasure.
God's great love is not something we earn or deserve. It is a gift, freely given to us by a God who chose us to be loved. We are His special treasure, set apart and chosen, not because of our accomplishments or qualities, but simply because He loves us. Let us embrace this great love and find our identity and worth in the knowledge that we are chosen and deeply loved by God.
